How to spend a 3 day weekend in St Ives

Published: Thursday 2nd Jan 2020

Not much beats a lovely long weekend to St Ives to regroup after a busy Christmas. There's also some great winter deals to be had.

If you're a foodie you don't want to miss exploring the area and popping out to lunch at the nearby Godolphin Arms in Marazion - it overlooks the sensational St Michael’s Mount causeway! Or perhaps you'll tuck into the catch of the day at the award winning, 12th Century Victoria Inn in Penzance.

If you need anymore encouragement to beat those wintry blues, then best book next Friday off work and treat yourself to a well-earned weekend away to West Cornwall.

Day 1, Friday:

After that drive, you deserve a little 'me time' so why not unwind with an award winning Cornish wine and sea view at the Porthminster Beach Cafe. With a menu packed with locally foraged produce and locally sourced fresh fish, it won't be long till you're thinking of nothing but the waves. Or for a more a more nautical feel, head to The Mermaid in the old fishing quarters of St Ives (Fish Street) for their fabulous and authentic seafood dishes.

Day 2, Saturday:
We all love a coastal walk and with routes along the South West coast path that are accessible to people of all abilities, it is the ideal way to spend your day. You can read about some of our favourite walking routes here (and of course hear about the best pubs you can try out along the way).

For the more chic and stylish amongst us, you won't go wrong with a spot of shopping in St Ives or even a trip to Padstow shopping. With so many options for a clotted cream Cornish cream tea in your pretty setting, it's a scrumptious way to spend the day.

Day 3, Sunday:
You'll want to stop by The Eden Project on your way home for an hour or so. Their locally sourced lunches come highly recommended and with its tropical and Mediterranean biomes, you'll sample a small taster of the warmer weather to come. For the green fingered amongst us, the biomes exhibit plants from across the world as well as those that flourish here in Cornwall!
