Dog friendly holidays

Cornwall is jam-packed with dog friendly things to do, so there’s no need for your pooch to miss out on all the fun. Here’s a quick guide to help you get the most out of your dog friendly getaway to Cornwall.

Step one

Find your dog friendly holiday cottage here. This year we’ve got even more choice of pet friendly cottages across Cornwall (listed with our sister company Cornish Horizons). You can browse that collection of holiday cottages here.

The beach!

Cornwall is full of stunning stretches of beach for your pooch to enjoy. But it’s worth remembering that quite a few aren’t dog friendly over the summer months.

For a complete guide of the great, dog friendly beaches which could be on your doorstep all year round, click here.

The South West Coast Path

The South West Coast Path is an uninterrupted network of pathway that runs along the whole coast of the county, perfect for dog walks whilst you enjoy the Duchy’s dramatic cliffs and stunning views.

Head inland and explore the countryside

If a day at the beach isn’t for you, why not venture inland and explore the miles and miles of unspoiled countryside that Cornwall has to offer? Among the best places to do this is on Bodmin Moor which offers an endless network of some of the best dog walks around. For dogs that don’t worry livestock, among our favourite places to head include the Copper Trail, Rough Tor or the Cardinham Woods.

The best aspect of enjoying a walk on Bodmin Moor is stumbling upon one of the many dog friendly pubs, offering the best way for everyone to reenergise after a long walk. The Old Inn & Restaurant in the village of St Breward is a great choice, famed for being the highest inn in all of Cornwall and very welcoming to our four-legged friends.

Leave them in safe hands for the day

More and more attractions in Cornwall are dog friendly, even areas of the Eden Project! But don’t worry if you want to have a doggy free day, there are plenty of specialised doggy day care facilities located throughout Cornwall that will keep your dog entertained all day long (you’ll find plenty of choice and reviews with an online search).
