Christmas and New Year in Cornwall

Christmas and New Year in Cornwall are magical. Little fishing villages adorned with fairy lights that sparkle on harbour waters; carols sung at the harbour’s edge and markets brimming with local produce; sweets and treats, ales, ciders, cheese and wine. Whether you’re here to relax over Christmas week, snuggled up in front of your holiday cottage fire, or visiting earlier in the month, there are Christmas festivals, markets and events happening throughout December. Here some of our favourites.

St Ives in December is jam-packed with festivities. You’ll discover pantos, choir services, markets, gorgeous Christmas lights and bakeries full of homemade mine pies. And as for New Year in St Ives.. watch this!

For a great day out, visit Padstow Christmas Festival. It has grown into one of the biggest and best in the country. Incredibly popular, it features cooking demonstrations from a plethora of celebrity chefs, as well as the usual fabulous food and entertainment.

Mousehole’s Christmas lights are simply not to be missed either. This little village is lit up with a display of 7,000 Christmas lights and floating displays in the harbour. You’ll find plenty of mulled wine in the local pub to help you stay cosy.

Fowey Christmas Market is a delightful affair, full of foodie offerings. Find lantern parades, choirs and Santa arriving by tug boat, as well as the usual festive fun in this picturesque harbour town.

At the Christmas markets you’ll discover the small, artisan food producers that are thriving in Cornwall and get a taste for local, fresh ingredients and the Cornish flare for doing things a little differently! Most of the markets round off the evening with spectacular fireworks, so pour yourself a glass of fizz and take it all in.

We have a stunning collection of luxury holiday cottages available this Christmas season, ensuring you’re front and centre for the host of festive fun that Cornwall has to offer. So, to make the most of all of this and more during your trip to Cornwall with the most sumptuous holiday accommodation, why not browse our collection?
